If you are going through that trouble, I would like to show you the Arlen Ness fender extention. It works well with the streetglide and a nice pair of slash ups. I didn't like the look of the way the rear facia curves in too far by the pipes. This is on my 14 RK. I had to order the SG wire harness, it wasn't that expensive, maybe $35. Plugs in under the seat and runs under the fender. You might want to order the self adhesive rubber sleeve the wire harness runs through since your old one will pull off with it, unless you take all the pins out of the molex connector and slide one out and new one it. If you do buy a new sleeve and don't want to remove the connector, I cut lengthwise through the double sided tape, used alcohol to clean the surface and quench my thirst, and pushed the cover around the harness and then stuck the tape side in the fender. that way the wire can't work out later.
