My Honda HRV under my driving conditions gets changed every 7500-8000 miles.
Yeah...but there’s a huge difference between a Honda car motor and a Harley. Whatever floats your boat!

I've been riding Harleys since 1975, I'm on my 4th one. I change my engine oil and primary every 3000 miles and my transmissions and my fork oils every 10k miles.
Drain your primary after just 3000 miles. You'll find the magnetic plug already caked up with clutch materials crud after just 3000 miles.
The manufacturer's extended the mileage intervals for you wear your cars and bikes out sooner forcing you the consumers to buy another. Marketing 101
If you plan on keeping your bike for ten to twenty years. Change your oils more frequently.

I agree with Jamesroadking. We buy a 20000 to 40000 thousand dollar toy and then worry about saving money on an oil change. Come on guys! Change your oil and buy good oil. I wouldn't run my car over 3500 let alone my Harley. Every Harley I've owned the top end starts getting noisy at about 3500 miles.

Riddle me this Batman, how would they possibly know when I changed my oil? I do my own maintenance, there is no proof one way or another what oil chance interval I follow. And owner performed maintenance is perfectly allowed under Mag. Moss.

As it turns out I, follow HD's maintenence schedule, but they (or I) couldn't possibly know or prove it one way or another. The only "proof" required of me is receipts, which only prove the date I purchased oil and filters.

Amsoil say 10 on the oil, 10 on the primary and 20 on the tranny if using their engine oil, primary and transmission fluid. Using the 20/50 in all three holes they say 10/30/20.
My question is this: Why would you extend?

A quart of oil is roughly $10/qt. Primary and tranny take about a qt each. That's $20 every 5000 miles if you change it then.
If you can't afford that, you don't have ANY reason buying and riding that $25K+ bike. Sell that bike and put the money from the bike sale into your home's maintenance/upgrades...it's an APPRECIATING ASSET, as compared to that DEPRECIATING ASSET you are riding around town.

Not sure that saving money is the reason. It is a reasonable question- Especially for those using synthetic oils, many of which claim a longer change interval.
I use Redline oils, probably one of the spendier options out there, but I still stick to the 5K change interval(10K primary, 20K transmission). If the oil still has life in it, using it longer shouldn't be a problem, I wouldn't think- but to know that you'd have to have your oil analyzed, and that's not exactly cheap.

Not me - now or ever.

H-D dino oil every 3000 and the other two holes once a year or every other oil change. Redline in the tranny, Formula+ in the primary.

Being that I was easily able to afford to buy this super-expensive toy, then I can certainly afford to change the fluids whenever I want.

Just me, other opinions will vary.
