Default First Impression on Oberon Clutch Lever

I have finally been able to get some riding time on my 2017 Road Glide Ultra. I picked up a like new Oberon clutch lever here on the forum after my first short ride using a hydraulic clutch. Coming from a 2013 Ultra Limited I was use to having an adjustable clutch lever with a reasonable "friction' zone. I remember posting on the forum asking if my 2017's clutch lever travel could be adjusted as it didn't engage until the very end of the lever travel. Some one suggested the Oberon adjustable clutch lever and that same night someone offered to sell me one. The Oberon has been a great addition giving me a friction zone and clutch lever pull my arthritic hands can tolerate. I rode 115 miles on Friday and thought how well I like the new bike and how smooth and easy it is to shift. I am using setting number 3 on my Oberon and have no problem starting in or out of gear. So if you're having problem with the new hydraulic clutches the Oberon lever maybe your answer.

That's good news. Mine is like a two finger pull and engages early, just where I want it.

I also put one on my bike to get the closer to the grip control. That much it did, but not a fan of the shorter finger space.

Fitted both the clutch and brake to mine. Great improvement over standard.

Mine's been on a week, the length of the riding season so far in southern Canada. Like most, I run mine in 3 to preserve the ability to start in gear. The owner of the local HD store is a friend so I showed it to him. He was so impressed that he plans to stock the levers for customers that have issues with the stock lever.

I put the clutch lever on last summer, a great product for all the above reasons.

I am not very fond on the hydraulic clutch as it does not seem to provide as fine of control as the manual clutch control when feathering it for low-speed maneuvers. Does this clutch seem to give one more control or just easier pull/more leverage?

I have been happy with my Oberon levers as well (both Clutch and Brake). The shorter hand area due to the adjustment known took some getting used to but the movement closer to the grips was well worth the adjustment.

On my 2014, 4 is the lowest setting I can use. Something must have changed on the newer bikes because at 3, you can't start the bike in gear.

I got a set of Oberons on my 2018 Ultra and like said above it takes a bit of getting use to but well worth the much improved clutch narrow friction zone control...no.3 setting on both works well for me.

The Oberon lever won't change the pull force or widen the friction zone that's characterized by the hydraulic clutch. It doesn't even move the lever closer to the grip. Like you I disliked the engagement point for low speed turns. Full lock right hand U-turns felt precarious due to the finger tip grip on the lever while feathering the clutch with my left arm fully extended.
The Oberon lever allows you to move the friction point much closer to the grip allowing a much more controlled mid-finger grip while modulating the clutch lever. It feels far more like the behaviour of the old cable operated clutch so low speed turns are much more fun. Even my local dealer is stocking them now because the owner feels that the new clutch is not right and that all touring motorcycles should have an adjustable lever.
I hope this helps.... in my opinion, the lever is money well spent.
