Default Chopped Tour Pack Mounting Plate?

For Christmas I got an aftermarket chopped tour pack, now I need all the stuff to mount it. The two-up mount to attach it to the bike I got, now I’m wondering if it’s necessary to use the mounting plate that goes inside the tour pack, like the one shown below. Those that I’ve seen on the web say made out of iron or just say made out of metal.

If you've used this type of plate to mount your tour pack what, if any, plate material was used?

That plate is for strength not a mounting plate. So yes it needs to be used.

Yes, now I see that they call it a "base" plate. Seems like aluminum would work as well then.

yes you need a plate in side the pack so the bolts wont break through the plastic.. i picked up an old no parking sign for $3 off of ebay and it works perfect.. i still need to trim it on the ends..

A heads up, if your like most folks, your more then likely going to want to move your tour pack back some. There are several options for this. I chose this one https://www.kuryakyn.com/products/4605/relocator-kits and run it in the 2" position and really like the extra room.

There are others like the George Anderson tour pack relocator which is really popular on here. Just search tour pack relocator and I'm sure many posts will come up. Of course you could fab something up yourself with some effort. It's looking good. LOL
