Default Harley Air Suspension Pump Ques

I have the HD suspension air pump 54630-03A. I recently had to replace the rear shocks. Installation went fine I pumped them up to about 30 lbs but when I unscrew the fill hose from the valve stem I loose about 5 lbs of air each time. I don't recall that ever happening. I though it is designed so no air leaks out when disconnecting the air hose. Any ideas?

I used to turn the regulator down on my air compressor to the pressure I wanted, quick push and done, best thing I did in that area was Progressive shocks, no more air

Localprez - I think you are right. when I used my pump, I don't recall it losing anything (or very little).

Which shocks did you get?

Pump is designed not to lose air.

Make sure your valve core on the suspension is fully seated & is correct for air suspension use. Also ensure the o-ring is proper & not damaged on the pump's connector.

If the valve core stem sticks up too much from the valve housing, it will be held slightly open as the pump begins to unscrew, causing a leak until the core stem seats.

I have a quality mountain bike suspension pump, same as HD's works good on mountain bikes and on my now sold RGU. Now on my new RGU CVO it loses air every time I unscrew. I have checked the valve seating and changed out the valve's for some new ones, still the same air loss. My next step is to shave off some of the the top of the valve.
