I got the HD adjustable and it was to far forward in the back position so I had to customize it. The base is not adjustable only the back rest adjusts,it pivots in the base forward and back. I straightened the bend in the middle of the back rest and using a hydraulic press bent it right where it comes out of the base giving me the room I needed. I would not recommend it. Without the modifications it would be in the scrap pile.

I have the HD adjustable unit and really like it. I'm 185lbs and if I wear a light jacket I move it forward and with a heavy jacket adjust it back. If anything I find it a little tall at it's lowest point when riding in town, but on trips i use an air cushion so everything fits up perfect.

Mustang adjustable here - love it. The best part is on a long ride you're on the highway pegs, you can push against the backrest (kind of an isometric)..really help get the kinks out. One caution is that you - and anybody else - can pull it out so you want to make sure its secure with a screw through the bottom tab.

Word of advice: think ahead about whether you may change your seat in the future. My understanding is that a Harley backrest does not work with some aftermarket seats and vice versa. I have the basic Harley backrest on my '14 Ultra. Despite not being "adjustable", there are three (3) positions fore and aft where the base gets anchored and several positions up & down where the backrest can be inserted. I like mine, but only use it if I expect to be riding over 100 miles and/or 3 or more hours. Oddly, although it makes it more difficult for my wife to get on & off the back, she says she feels more secure with the backrest on.

I have the Harley Adjustable backrest. I like being able to adjust on the fly. If I have my feet up on the highway pegs, i'll push it back a bit.
