Does anyone use a rider backrest AND passenger grab rails? I really want a backrest but it uses the same studs under the seat as the grab rails.

Just traded in my old standard adjustable setup that had been on 2 Eglides. It always fit tight and strong, able to lean back against it for a stretch during the long hauls. Traded bikes into the rushmore era seats/backrests. Installed the new adjustable backrest setup from over the counter. I am amazed at the decline of product quality from a MoCo item out of the box. The adjustable trigger and trim looks really cheaply made and not discreetly mounted at all. (works good!) The plug-in backrest absolutely rattles back and forth in the mount when plugged in. The adjustable backrest pad mechanism flops around on the mount. The pad covering material seems to be a much lesser quality than the seat material and barely covers the adjustable height mechanism. It works but I just paid dealer dollars for a product that will have to be cut, bent, shimmed, and welded to bring it up to a mechanical acceptability and functionality. QC definitely dropped the ball on this option....

My wife & I both have the HD "regular" versions. You can't adjust them on the fly, but I have no reason to personally.
She is happy with hers. 5' 7"
I had to tweak mine a bit. 6' Put washers under the front portion of the mount as it felt like it pushed me forward. I also have a Tall Boy seat.

I have tested it on a 500 mile run before I tweaked it. It was fine besides me being too far forward. Haven't gotten a long trip since customizing it, 120 miles, but feels perfect to me.

I will add the limiting factor is the hard @$$ seat....LOL

Yes. Rails and the Mustang backrest and everything works/fits fine.

I use the Harley Backrest. It's adjustable but not will your riding. You get some adjustment by turning a screw which either sits you up straight or lets you kind of lean back. The mount only adjusts by removing the seat and moving it to one of 4 or 5 positions. But once you get it in the right position, you really never have to move the mount. I've been using it for about 7 years on two different bikes. No complaints with comfort. I've gotten my money's worth out of it.

I have a Harley backrest and I like it. I never take it off the bike.

For those who use the backrest intermittently and prefer not throwing it in a box or drawer:

I had the Dealer throw it in for free when I bought my Ultra. I started using a back rest a few years ago. I just have a lot of hard miles from the younger days. I can't be on a bike for more than an hour without the back rest. With the rest, I can go all day.

I don't have a stock seat, but run the 2 piece low profile. So, I bought one of these: http://cvobackrest.com

I run it about all the way rearward, and it doesn't really push me forward at all; I just have a small, thin pad. It does make a noticeable difference on long rides, and we don't have any issues 2 up. I had to use some spacers to tilt the bottom of the backrest pad out and make it more comfortable for me.
