Front Wheel Bearings.

Front Wheel Bearings.
Replaced the front wheel bearing on my 2014 Ultra yesterday it has 35K miles on it and they were shot. I am lucky they did not fail. The spacer between the bearing was rusted very badly. I can not believe that Harley has not recalled the bearings on the 2014's. Does anyone know if they have improved the bearing and if so what year? My buddy has a 2016 should we change his it has about 20K but was stored out side for almost a year.
Thank for the advice

Replaced mine on the front at 20k. Only the ABS side was bad, but I replaced them as a pair with the HD brand. Now it is starting to feel bad again at 27K. When I take off the wheel and feel them, only the ABS side bearing feels bad again.
Does anybody know if someone else makes just the left ABS bearing? Seems they should last a lot longer than that.

How do you know if the bearings are bad? '14 Ultra Limited w/ 17.5K mils on it, everything feels fine, no vibration, only thing I notice is in a turn (50-60 MPH) I get a whistling/whining/buzzing, ONLY in the turn. I'm not sure if the noise is a bearing or tire problem. Years ago we used to jack up our cars and shake the tire in and out, top and bottom, will that work on a Harley? Thank you...

Whatever kind of bearing you get, pop a seal off and check the grease. I hear the newer Harley bearings have a metal shield that you'd wreck trying to get off, just another reason I wouldn't get them. Most of the assorted bearings I've bought over the last decade had a real thin (what I'd call completely inadequate) film of what looks like vaseline. I always clean that out and lube with a good quality name brand synthetic. I'll give AllBalls credit, even though they're made in China, they use Chevron synthetic grease, and plenty of it; I'd use them over Harley's Chinese bearings any day. I've seen commercial equipment fry wheel bearings real quick for lack of bearing lube, and seen replacement bearings with no grease in them at all. It's rare, but just the fact that it can happen is enough for me to always check.
