This is what I have set up. Works great. I've been using RAM products for many years from trucks, boats, motorcycles and ATVs, never a failure. You do want to get the correct size X-Mount because if wrong you may be pushing on the phone buttons while holding phone. Also it works great with any case your using. I'm using Otter Box Defender and that's a big phone case.

 

I've been using the RAM X mount as well, excellent product. I found a package RAM has that includes the X-mount, handlebar mount, control pod mount, and tether in one SKU, cost me about 80 CAD incl. shipping. I've put a fair number of miles on it, no issues at all.
