the reason i'm bringing this up is the newer style pump looks to be much better.

I know the dealer you're talking about and IMHO you're damn lucky that they didn't have the pump (therefore, none of their hack "techs" ever touched your bike)!

You might think about getting the manuals and doing the work yourself, once your local dealer gets the part, that is.

So far, so good on my '15 Limited, but if/when my pump goes south, I'll be the one fixing it.

Good luck,

JP

You can assume Harley will make the old pumps for 20 or more years, as long as someone buys them, they will make them, they are in business to sell things. If they ever stop, you can bet an aftermarket will start.

what I don't understand with all these pump failures (me in June) is why dealers don't have a few in stock.

They're not that big to take up shelf space

every dealer in the country should have at least 2 of these pumps in their parts departments.

I would think it is because of internet forum hysteria. Meaning yes, based on posts in here pump failures happen but maybe not enough where every dealer sees one on a regular basis and they do not want to inventory expensive items to lay around.
We just do not know the actual numbers of failures and we will never be told .. .)
