Default How many miles on OEM brake pads?

2016 FLHXS. I have about 3500 miles on my bike. The brakes are starting to make a grinding noise. Time for new pads already?!?

No way should you need brake pads that early, unless you really ride the brakes all the time.

I had just over 35,000 miles on my 2011 Street Glide when I traded it for my Limited, and still had the original pads.

I have 17,000 on my Limited now and still on the original pads.

Could bad wheel bearings cause the pads to wear early?

4500 miles on rear pads '15 LTD, but I'm on I-95 rush hour traffic. Which is bumper to bumper for miles everyday. Trying EBC pads this time. Fronts have not been changed yet.

That roughness is caused by not so great factory disc. Long story short I sent my front disc to Truedisk.net. My front brakes are smooth as silk now with the factory pads. 2016 FLTRU .

You may just have some bad material in your pads. I'd recommend taking it in and see if they'll replace the pads for free. No way they're worn. I've seen this several times.
