The thread insert for the stock seat hold down would hold the rack or a fender bib down. It is also used to hold a passenger pillon in place

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks

A friend has a motherwell solo rack on his street glide. It looks great, and he is happy with it.

I have one on my dyna. It's built well. But, like you, I wish it was flat.

I have found several solo luggage racks that hug the shape of the rear fender.
I had this type solo rack on my 2005 Super Glide. It looked good but it wasn't very functional. I would like a flatter luggage rack. I know Motherwell made a rack I believe it was called the Gun Fighter. It was wider than normal and pretty flat if I remember correctly. They do not make this rack for the Rushmore bikes according to the lady I talked to on the phone.
I have looked at every after market site I can think of and search on here several times. I can't find anything like that.
What do you run on your solo set up?
Does anyone else run a "flat" solo luggage rack? Or know of a company that makes one?
If so, I would appreciate any information you can give me.

TIA,
Kevin

I love the look of the solo seat/sissy bar/luggage rack combo. The seat is comfortable and the luggage rack easily holds my luggage case that slips over the sissy bar. Here are the links to the items I have:

Looks like H-D part (54213-09A) with proper docking mounts may be what you can use.
That's the only game in town, unless can make one, or fix up something that will work.

That is a nice set up. Looks real good. I had thought of going that way. I figured I could remove the pad from my sissy bar instead of buying another one.

I used one like this, except chromed steel, on my fatboy. only problem is drilling the fender. I used the seat attachment setups for easy removal for seat swaps.

Here is one I have. Do use locktite on the rack bolting if you go this route.

I threw the Harley 54213-09a in the trash after it took a big chunk of paint off my black struts. Had to have another set powder coated.
