Default aftermarket vs MoCo hard lowers?

i've been thinking of putting hard lowers on the bike but have seen a bunch of aftermarket companies offering them for half or even a third of the price. so my question is.... are any of the aftermarket ones up to similar quality of the MoCo ones? or should i just pony up and get the harley ones?

I paid 250.00 for mine and it matched my vivid black bike perfect. Harley wants almost 800.00 for theirs. I am happy with my decision.

I bought some Mutazu <spelling> hard lowers for my 2005 a number of years ago. Fit and finish was fine. Matched my stock HD black paint very well. Some of the hinges on the compartment doors weren't tightened properly at the factory, but after I checked all hardware they lasted for years. Sold them to a friend a few years ago when I traded it in on the 2015 and the new owner is quite happy with them.

Ooh! Ooh! There were no instructions with the Mutazus, and I had to fashion some of the mounting hardware from junk I had laying around, but considering the price it was still a good deal. I just looked at their website and didn't see any lower fairings that didn't have speakers. Maybe they don't sell them anymore.

YMMV
.

Try a search on Advan. Seems I've read of those also...

I have AdvanBlack lowers on my 2016 SGS. Identical clone to OEM on looks and fit. Paint work is flawless and have found no problems after having them on for the last 6 months.

Advan black makes a awesome product. I had them on one of my bikes but on the other i got a set off eBay for 45 dollars in vivid black. You cant tell the difference between the oem and the 45 dollar ones. I dont keep them on all year, but only for the cold season so to spend top dollar on something not on full time is not really worth it for me.

Here is a pic of the 45 dollar ones, and i also bought the quick release hardware for 15 extra dollars.

I just traded off a 1999 black ultra that I had put new vented lowers on from EBAY. They cost me $50. After papers were signed I gave him the original ones that came with the bike to the salesman. He said he never even noticed. They looked good and worked fine.

I try to keep my GM all GM. (You old Chevy guys remember that sticker?)

I ponied up the 750ish what ever it was and got the black quartz color matched from the factory. Theyre in the warranty now that i did it the day i bought the bike.
