Default Has anyone installed fairing mount aux power switch - 16 RGS

I was looking at getting one of the HD 71400105 aux power switch kit - which installs under one of of the blanks already on the panel by the ignition switch on my '16 RGS. Looking at the kit, it looks like all the wiring is in the fairing, but the instructions say to access the connector under the left side panel.

So I'm a bit confused and am wondering if anyone here had installed one themselves and could clarify.

Thanks

Been looking at this as well, By looking at the length of the pigtail it seems that you can lug this in without removing the outer fairing.

go to youtube and search on 'installing heated grips' , will show the connections. I think the channel is 'ride and wrench your harley, something like that.

Very easy install. Just pull the housing around the ignition switch and unplug cable from blank, install new switch pack and reinstall housing, I also ordered the driving light button and installed in the switch pack..

Reference to left side panel is because that's where the Accessories connector is located. Adding switch assembly to control added accessories uses the BCM to switch power to wires in the accessories connector. H-D has 3 different accessories wiring kit options:
  • switch pack & controlled accessories wiring
  • switches to plug into the switch pack & controlled accessories wiring
  • hot, unswitched accessories wiring

The harness connector is plugged into the dummy switch, so its right there ready to use.
If you were to look up under you would see this.

So you can install the switch bank then plug directly into a harness and have AUX power without having to buy another UAX power harness kit?
Is this kit all thats needed?
