Which Apple device works best for music only
Looking at getting either an iPod touch, Nano or classic to play my music, I don't like that I can't skip through songs on the thumb drive.
I have created many playlists on the thumb drive, but sometime you just want to skip a song or jump to the next one for whatever reason.
What device do most of you riders use and which is better integrated with the 6.5 infotainment system.
Thanks

I run an iPod Touch, but only because that's what I had before I got the bike. Any of them should do what you're looking to do just fine. I like having iTunes on the computer and being able to build different playlists, then just plug in and ride. I can skip a song if I'm not in the mood, or play just a certain album if I prefer.

To answer your question... Depending you how much music you want to carry, I think you want a Nano. The touch is a phone-less iPhone; the Classic (if you can find one) has HUGE capacity but uses a plattered hard drive, not the best for a motorcycle
But, you should be able to skip tracks on your USB drive using the left hand joystick. That's what I do using an 8gig USB stick. I haven't figured out playlists, but artist and album selection works well.

Are you using Apple Music subscription? If so, go with the touch because it plays music from the app. If you go with nano or shuffle the iPod will recognize songs downloaded from the subscription service and play them fine, but the boom 6.5 can't play the protected file type from the nano/shuffle. Any songs you paid for individually will play fine on any iPod.
There's a good write up in audio section about file types and how they affect various devices and different subscription services. Try a search for downloading tunes to iPod in audio section.

Why can't you skip through songs with the thumb drive? I have one with about 700 songs that I use, I can skip songs...I did notice that with one of the recent updates you now have to enter the setting and change (I THINK) the Scan and Seek option. When I listen to XM I have it set on one setting (can't remember if it's Scan or Seek) and when I change to the Thumb Drive I have to change that setting to the other...good luck!

I use an Apple 6 phone and play Pandora using Bluetooth with around 75 artist stations set up with no interruptions, just straight music...use to plug it into the USB port and play it that way,but one of the radio updates eliminated that, so now it's Bluetooth without using my data up...Cost is 4.00 month for Pandora with no disc jockeys, just music

I use an iPod Nano which holds about 1500 songs, I also use my iPhone 6 via Bluetooth as well. I have all of my music (about 60 gb) that I stream using iTunes Match when I'm in a good signal area. The problem with streaming is that out here in the west there are still lots of no or low service areas, plus it eats up battery power.
