I had the hog tunes and boom 1 and 2 equipment. Both boom systems were much better than my hogtunes setup. Strange that your results were different. It just goes to show you that everyone's ear is different. It also depends on music taste as well. Even with my hertz speakers one type of music might sound better than another type.

Same EXACT thing happened to me. They reflashed, and I couldn't be happier.

Ignore the naysayers. Is it the best system out there? Probably not, but it's light years ahead of the stock system.

Should have visited the audio section on this forum before investing in the Boom II. You can get much more "Boom" for the bucks if you want.

Good sound solid advice. Under $350.00 into my amp RF PBR 300/2 and four kicker 6.25 speakers and its superior too the BOOM. JMO though

Well I had to dial my system in and the rear speakers were useless, the front's had to much hi for my taste and they sucked at lower volume period. The dial it in part took me a week because I kept getting info from people who had way more expierence than I did so it took awhile to learn that.
No doubt if someone that knew what they were looking for in sound then after-market might be the ticket but all I wanted was a bit more punch and that's it. If i'd had it to do once over the boom system with the amp would have been my choice but all I did after going back stock was re-place my fronts with hogtune speakers and I'm ok for now.

I really like my Ltd's setup Boom II fairing and Tour-Pak speakers and front/rear amps but it was way over priced. Sounds great at cruise but I don't know if I'd do it again. Bikes aren't the best vehicles to throw money at for audio upgrades.

If all you did was upgrade the speakers you wont hear much of a difference, the stock system puts out 24 watts and the new speakers are capable of 75 watts, you need to go to the stage II boom amp to make the speakers come alive, made the same mistake on my RGS
