Michelins do not have the run flat advantage like Dunlops. A Dunlop with no air pressure will still go down the road fine, almost can tell the difference in a straight line. If the Michelin gets a puncture, pull over and call the tow truck.
This might be possible with some bikes and situations. When the rear tire on my ultra went flat l was 2 up with luggage. The rear end of the bike was all over the place. It was not possible for me to continue to ride. That tire was a factory Dunlop
I changed to the MCII tires on my 2011 Road Glide over a year ago. I noticed they were quieter then stock, smoother ride and held the road better and as others does not follow tar snakes at all. I have put just over 8,000 on them and they still look brand new and looking forward to many more miles.
Commander II now Standard on touring models. I love mine Just wonder how much putting the Harley emblems in place of the arrow Treadwear markers will increase the price?
I replaced both F/R tires from stock with MCII's and couldn't be more pleased. To me there was a noticeable improved "feel". Many of the guys I ride with chose the same tires on their street/road glides with the same experience. Good luck..
I've had my MCII's on my 15 Limited for about 20K miles now and love every bit of them over the Dunlops. I use Ride On goo for both balancing and insurance against punctures and have had zero issues. As far as running over the tar snakes, I really can't say that I've seen any difference. I just try to avoid them especially in curves. They're great tires for sure. This winter I will need to replace them though as they are about done.
Got a new set of MCII's to install over the winter. Got 16,500 miles out of my OEM Dunlops, the front would still be ok for another 4000-5000 miles, but the rear definitely has less tread on it.
Looking forward to spring already!
I am on my third set of commander 2'sand getting great milage out of them. The only thing is that you have to take it easy for the first 100 miles till they get scuffed up. They handle and ride great.
