Something I noticed at the end of the season last year, was a bit of the chrome peeling off one of the "spokes" on the front wheel. Today I noticed several areas, on both wheels, where the chrome is either gone, or is coming loose. Not a huge deal, from a distance, so far, but if things get really bad, I guess I'll have to consider a new set of wheels.
Well, I got sick of the tour pack latch coming undone, so I ordered a new latch, from Advanblack, today. I had to use a bungee cord to keep the tour pack lid from flying open today. If the new latch doesn't do the trick, I guess I'll need to buy a new bike......lol.
No riding weather today. I washed the bike about a week ago, but didn't get the chrome polished, so I decided to get it done today. Spending a few hours polishing chrome sucks, but it sure looks good afterwards. The bike is as clean as it's been in a long time and looks damn near new.....from about 10 feet away. The chrome on the wheels is starting to peel off in several spots, but as long as you don't get too close, they look ok. I really can't complain too much being as how the bike has 5 riding season, lots of road salt rides, and over 110,000 miles on the odometer.
Still (not that's it been a long time) waiting on my new tour pack latch, from Advanblack. It's in the mail, so I'm hopeful it shows up tomorrow, since it's supposed to rain all day, and it'd give me something to do. Thursday is "supposed" to be nice and I'd love to take a ride, with a tour pack that stays latched.
The new Advanblack tourpack latch kit arrived today. I used my stock lock, so I have spare hinges and a spare lock set now. The latch seems to be fastening much firmer / tighter than it was yesterday. I guess I'll know after my next ride.
