I would agree we used these on racecars for years and never had a problem

 

Two different issues but what a think its the bagger bolt that did it they are thinking to hold saddle bag on bike i believe the op talking the latch

for me stock is ok. don't lose the washer when removing. the washer is the key to original fastener staying on.
