anyone use the tour pack in the solo position?

I bought both the two-up and solo Quick Disconnect (QD) mounts for my 2014 Police Electra Glide (FLHTP).
The solo mount can be bolted to the tourpak in such a way that it can be used as a rider's backrest. Even with the police spring solo seat.
However, I have it mounted a little further to the rear so I can utilize my Utopia backrest that mounts to the solo seat. The space between the Utopia backrest and the tourpak's backrest is a few inches. Enough space to hold a towel and a Camelback water bladder system.
I only use the tourpak when I ride with my wife (using the two-up mount so she has a passenger backrest) and when I am on a multi-week cross-country solo ride (using the solo mount). For everyday riding, I normally do not have the tourpak mounted on the bike. I prefer the lower CG for everyday riding and do not want the clutter or "boxyness" of the tourpak. I don't need the storage space the tourpak provides for everyday riding. My saddlebags are ample. Heck, I don't even have the passenger pillion mounted unless my wife is on the back of the bike.
I like the clean lines of the rear fender to be visible:
The QD mounts seemed like the perfect solutions(s) for me.

Has anyone figured out a solution on what to do with the wires other than tucking them under your solo seat. I have the qd tour pack and the only thing I hate is having to remove the seat to pull the cables out.
Also if I want to switch to the solo qd do I just need the bracket that attaches underneath the tour pack?

As far as the solo tour pak bracket goes, as long as you have the 4 point QD docking system you will be fine. The wiring was a challenge and I didn't do it.
The locking mechanism HD sells for the brackets work for the QD luggage rack, but won't work for the tour pak. I bought a 15" gun lock. Has a rubber coated cable, use it to lock the pak to the bike.

Saw one these at Bike Week this year and it really looked good. I'm thinking of buying one and using it as a solo tour pack for trips.

Very true, due to better weight distribution.
I have done it on three bikes in a row. My signature picture is a CVO Road Glide ultra wth the Pack off as soon as I got to Sturgis for the week.
