Default 21" Wheel - Suspension Poll

On my old Street Glide, I had a 21" wheel with a 1" drop using a Progressive Monotube front suspension. While it handled firmly, it was not the ride I was looking for. Since I got the new Limited, I want to put back on my 21" front wheel to give it a different look. I am wondering how many people put a 21" wheel on without dropping the front by 1" to compensate for the larger wheel? If so, did you notice any difference in the ride or handling?

I lowered 1" because I was worried about being able to be flat footed after the 21. Glad I did it because I would have been on my tip toes. I also didn't want the up hill look.

I'm running a 21" with the stock height up front & 13" shocks in the back - I'll take the extra saddlebag ground clearance any day

Any problem with handling or the overall ride?

You sold the Amber Whiskey bike?!? That thing was pimp AF!

I had the AXEO -1" kit & AXEO standard kit on my 2015 SGS. I lowered just for the look, and didn't notice a handling difference at all. The standard kit is about 1" lower than stock and gives me the look I want.

I have a JNR kit in the rear, and when riding solo, I set the shocks in the middle. Haven't dragged the bags yet. I got the skid plates just for peace of mind.

Thanks. I traded it in.....but i put it back to stock before hand. Mostly all my parts will transfer to the new bike.

Went different than most I guess. Added a 21" front and 17" rear at Ocean City Bike Week. I did not plan on new wheels as I was running Agitators already in 19"/18". The suspension bits were already ordered for better ride and handling. Went with progressive monotubes up front and Super Shocks in rear, both with stock height. So, with the new wheels, the bike actually sits higher than stock. For me, more cornering clearance is a good thing! The bike handles and corners well and I am very happy.

Added a 21" wheel to mine, stock height and thought it rode better. Defiantly took the curves better. After a month I put in the progressive 1" lowering spring kit and still think the same.

Added a 21" wheel over the winter, no change in suspension, about 500 miles this spring and all is good. If there is a difference, it's minimal or my memory from the fall ain't too good...
