Default 2016 CDN tribar light does not light up

For all the Canadian owners of streetglides, other than buying the custom dynamics light, will the American tribar light work on the HDI canadian bikes, i want the tribar light to light up like the american bikes, thanks to the DOT rules they are empty with no lights in them just a dummy unit.

Has any one been able to make the american unit work on our bikes and if so how did you do it?

I got the Custom Dynamics one from Dream Cycles in Ontario for $150 Cdn to my door. I had looked into buying a U.S. light and figuring out how to modify it but this was way cheaper. The light looks like a very well made product and installation took about 30 minutes. It could be done quicker but it was cold in the garage and I was careful to not break any plastic parts when removing them.

It can be done but your going to have to be good with splicing wires, I'm not sure if I read it here on HD Forums or not but there was a guy that did his, I think you should go with CD and never mind messing with the wires. Just my opinion.

Absolutely plug n play. Even though the housing we get from the factory has no lights in it, the wiring harness still goes through it. All you do is unplug a wire bundle on each side of the old unit and plug them into the new unit in the same locations.

Not enjoying our weather at all. This is the longest I've ever gone without being able to ride.

Back in July of 14 when I bought my 14 SG,I modified the rear wiring, cut the pins off the wires going into and out of the dummy tribar, and spliced them together, then tapped into them and wired in a pre-2010 run/brake tribar. If I was doing it now,I'd go with the CD unit.I've been using CD signal lights for a few yrs now and have good luck with them.

Ever since I bought my Canadian SG 3 years ago, I have been researching for a fix to our CND models. There have been a few posts on how to do a modification, including: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...g-tri-bar.html, and https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...r-led-mod.html, if you want to go that route.
But I agree with previous posters, now that CD has a CDN specific tribar light in their inventory, that is the best way to go.

I have cut and spiced some LED in mine. Sealed it right up and good to go.

Until the trip up north two years later and noticed my CD turn signals were getting back feed. Didn't think much of it, cause when I got home I put in the reg bulbs. Another trip and then lost all lights to the back...no brake or turn.

Removed the trip light to see maybe that was the issue. Yep, water found its way in and started to melt the trip light housing. Had to purchase a new housing and problem solved!
