Default Mustang Vintage 79538-vs- Mustang Solo 79446

I have been in new seat mode for some time now for my 2016 FLHXS. My girlfriend got me an HD solo for Christmas but it is a solo version of the stock seat and going back. Not sure yet if I want a solo seat. I am 6' tall and looking to move back an inch or so. My considerations in order of preference are:

1. Mustang Vintage 2up #79538
2. Mustang Vintage Solo 79446 and would probably get the passenger seat.
3. The HD Sundowner 2 up seat.

Looking for opinions from those of you have may have experience with one of these seats.

Thanks!

I also have a 2016 FLHX and borrowed a HD Sundowner 2 up from a friend. It wasn't much different than stock. After having a Mustang on my Dyna I know I am going that route for mine

I have the Harley solo seat and it is definitely not the same as stock, it sits you lower and maybe a little back. But the biggest difference for me was the Jaybrake forward controls. I'm 6 feet tall and they really help with comfort. The solo seat is not comfortable on all day trips though, I need to get some gel put in it.

I just installed the Harley Police Seat. Only put 60 miles on it so far, but what a big improvement in seating position. I have pretty long legs, so every stock seat sits me knees high and puts a lot of pressure on the butt bone. The Police seat sits me higher and back farther so that my legs have a natural bend.

I have the 79446 w/backrest and passenger pillion.

Sets me well back, but not down on my 2010 road glide. Actually maybe a little higher than a stock RG custom seat. Once you break it in it is a wonderful seat. Went to the 79446 from a 15inch version and it really gives me the legroom I need. Your shield size may need to change, but maybe not for you.

cockpit change sequence, seat, bars, then shield and other foot position related items.

I like it also because I can strip off the pillion and have a streamlined back end if wanted.

Backrest setup is great also. I had a one piece before and this setup is better for me!! I did have sundowner, no comparison..79446 way better

This seat will follow me in the future with whatever I get. The wide pillion is also great for the BSR. I carry an airhawk just in case for long rides (for the BSR)

I think there may be a used one floating around on the boards somewhere..

Good luck!!
