I bought a replacement 6.5 nav unit. Did not know it was an EU unit. It showed a UK map from previous user. I'm being told I can download the US maps from HD and load them on the Nav unit via usb stick.

Somehow, I do not think this is this easy. I'm certain this unit does not have the most current software. 1.17.xx


I do have a current call into HD but no answer as of yet. So I ask you fine folks.

 

Updated maps can be bought online for $150. I don't know if the US map can be installed over the Euro map. Was this a fleabay purchase? Did the seller advertise it as a Euro unit? Can you return it?

 

New software for the unit itself is not the problem, but I think you can only update with the EU software, on my EU unit I can't put your domestic software. The link is EU software.

I don't know if you can put another region map on it then original.

Also I assume you will have problems with radio reception, the frequenties in EU are even .... Maybe it's possible with a special bridge/schwitch or something in the radio ....

I think the hardware is different. 3 separate part numbers listed in the parts and accessories book

 

A friend of mine went back to Germany and shipped his Limited back. He bought Europe map and installed okay. So I bet you can purchase and install Norrh America maps. Time and money that's all.
