To black or not to black

To black or not to black
I have a red 16 SGS, and I love it.. I am considering my upgrades and accessories, and can't decide on whether to go black or not. I want to be careful not to just start blacking things out and getting carried away.
The red blacked out bikes I have seen look incredible, but I'm not sure I want to invest all that money.
What are your thoughts?
thanks for your opinions.

I know your thoughts and concerns very well. I used to be a chrome guy and couldn't get enough chrome. But I've changed and use both now and it compliments each other. I've now got a 17 Superior blue and silver and was thinking go back to chrome. But I have since started added the black along with the chrome and really like it. You are the one who has to decide.

I'm doing a balance of black and chrome on my new M8 RGS in vivid black. The parts I'm changing to black are:
- 14" Yaffe bars
- fork tops and bottoms
- chopped engine guard
- front signals and mounts
- exhaust
Thats it for now and they rest will stay chrome. In the future I may change the rear signal/brake bar to black and the rear fender support. But that'll probably be it.

On my 2006 Springer Classic, I wanted things blacked out, since the springer forks are black and set the tone for the bike. I did A LOT of blacking out of parts, but there were some parts I purposely left chrome. There's a link in my signature if you're interested in seeing it.
I'll close with this - black, with chrome accents looks much better that chrome, with black accents. IMHO anyway.

I don't like chrome flashing/reflecting sunlight in my eyes. So every mod I do, I get it in black. Over 24,000 miles I've done:
• black headlight/driving light trim rings
• black Thunderheader
• black heavy breather
• blacked out headlight/driving light (bezel) LED's
• black apes/mirrors/levers
• black engine guard
• black highway pegs/mounts
• black sissy bar/luggage rack/dock
• black fork lowers & fork sliders/uppers (recently added but not pictured)
To keep costs down I just spread it out over time. I'm in no hurry and it REALLY changes the look of the bike each mod completed
Chrome and black look good together so that's pretty cool
