Default Front fender skirt removal

Just curious if anyone has taken off the front fender skirt of a Ultra limited and left it off. Mine is looking a little ragged and I thought about replacing it with a nice chrome one. I sometimes run the bike without the tourpack so a nice clean fender (like SG) might look nice. The problem I see is the little holes that would be left if not replacing the fender skirt piece. I haven't taken it off yet so looking for collective knowledge from this site. Thanks for any input

I added a mud flap on mine on a '14 Tri Glide, if that's what you mean by skirt; at the bottom/back. Took out the 5 teeny tiny itty bitty screws/nuts. Yes, those little holes and some gunk on the fender, but I didn't look to see if the skirt marred the paint or not, since I was putting it back on.

It will come off with a small screwdriver and a tiny wrench (I used a 4" Crescent hammer) without taking off the wheel. Putting them back was a pain, make sure you use some Loctite on them if you do.

There is more than just a hole. The front fender is actually indented in the front as well to accommodate the light. I scoured eBay and found a take off street glide fender for 100 bucks.

Disregard my reading comprehension is low today. Saw you were referring to the fender skirt not to the fender tip.

I think the only visual problem is that without the skirt the fender looks a little short in the back - because it's shorter than an SG fender, but if that doesn't bother you, cool.

Aesthetically, the fender doesn't look good without the skirt. I know from replacing mine that the chrome jobs add more than a little rigidity to the fender also.

Just my two cents worth.

I had to replace my skirt so I went with the chrome one that came out last year. It is a lot nicer looking than the original and there will be the holes left if you leave a skirt off.

Plus there is the mud and stone chip thing. The whole reason I knew what it was like to take it off was so I could add a mud flap in the first place.

You mean this chrome one? Looks much better than the stock one that came with it! I'm swinging by the stealer to pick one up tomorrow. Thanks SantaJim!

Look closely at Your oil cooler cover and notice the stone damage.Running with out a skirt will cause the damage to go up higher.
