Default Not able to upload software update

Hi guys,
I have Boom premium on streetglide special, IIRC it has software version 1.19 - HD website now on 1.20.1 so figured why not update.
Ok I saved (downloaded) the file to an 8Mg stick the followed the instruction to download to Boom but Im expecting it to recognise and pop up a prompt but getting nothing.....any ideas if I might have missed something?

Thanks

Did you unzip the file first?

The file you download is a compressed (.zip) file.
You need to extract that, so you end up with a file ending in (.iso).

Move the .iso file to your USB stick and it will work.

Also to add if you are using a usb 3.0 stick boom audio will not recognize the stick you will have to have either a 2.0 or1.0 usb stick hope this works for you.

Thanks fellas,

1) I just saved download directly to stick - having read instructions again it suggests saving to desktop first, my error it seems - I will try again at work tomorrow.

2) I use the same sticks - previously i downloaded / installed routes from route planner ok so Im guessing the same type of stick should be ok to handle downloads.

Thanks again for the advice
Cheers

Yeah, the file you downloaded will not work until until it is unzipped.

1. Download the file from HD website (Pick the correct one for your radio)
2. Unzip the file (Most newer operating systems can do this by just double clicking the file)
3. Copy the unzipped file to the root level of your flash drive.

Screen Shot of the file on flash drive: Note: Mine is for the 6.5 infotainment system.
Note the file name ending in .iso (meaning the .zip file has been extracted).

4. Turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACCESSORY.
5. Turn on the audio system and connect the USB flash drive to the USP port.
6. The audio system will detect the new software available and ask if you want to update.
7. Select "Yes"
8. The display will prompt you to remove the USB drive when the update is complete.

Mine recognizes all of my USB 3.0 sticks just fine - even the 256GB one...

I had trouble also. It was my first time updating the software. What I found out was that I also saved a small txt file on my USB drive as well as the update. I deleted the txt file and it updated perfectly.

you would think that by now Harley would have fixed the instructions to include unzipping the file before copying it to a thumb drive.

They do tell you.
Most people just don't understand what it means.

Copied directly from the HD download instructions
2. Download the latest software version from harley-davidson.com
a. Select "Download Software Update" for the appropriate system.
b. When prompted, save the compressed file to your computer desktop.
c. When the download is complete, copy the file within the zipped folder to the root directory
(the first or top most directory in a file system) of a USB flash drive that is 8 GB or larger.
d. Turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACCESSORY. (Keyless ignition vehicles: press and hold the trip switch for more than two seconds).
e. Turn on the audio system and connect the USB flash drive to the audio system's USB port.
f. The audio system will detect the new software available and ask if you want to update. Select “Yes”. The display will prompt
you to remove the USB drive when the update is complete.
