2015 vs 2016 Ultra Limited
Looking to buy an Ultra Limited. I am looking at the 2016 since I can get a better deal on those and can swap parts from my Road King (power duals header, stage 1 ac). Local dealer, only game in town, has a 2016 Vivid Black available. Dealer in Albuquerque (abt 300 mi away) has a 2015 in Brilliant Silver Pearl/Vivid Black available, new, never registered, 11 miles. The local dealer is about $2500 more than the other dealer and won't come down, even after giving him specs on the other bike.
Any downside to getting the 2015? Other than having to take a road trip up there. I was leaning towards an all black bike but for the difference, getting another 2-tone may be the way to go. Thanks.

For $2,500 I would buy the 15. Make sure the 15 was not previously registered, triggering the warranty. Some dealers sell new bikes to themselves to increase allocation. This triggers the warranty period to start.
If it were me, I would really think hard about a new 2017 with the new M8. Ride them both, then decide.

You will get all sorts of answers here. My question is which bike do you like the most...Black or two tone?
To address your question - other than color, there is no basic difference between the 15 and 16. Others have suggested you consider the 17 - however, as I read your post, you want to use the changeable parts - so, the 17 is an o go.
I have the 14 Ultra Limited - didn't buy if for the depreciation - instead, I got it because of appreciation (appreciate the riding)

I took a 17 Limited out yesterday and geeez, night and day compared to my 15 Limited Low. Motor seemed to have a bit more to it and dramatically smoother, the suspension was a hell of a lot better too. I never realized there was that much difference suspension-wise between a Limited and Limited Low.

Thanks for the feedback. In terms of performance, I test rode a 17 SGS with a Stage 1 kit a few weeks back, and while I did find it to have a nice, linear torque band, the mods I have done to my RK put it on equal footing. Thus why I wanted to get a 16 and move my parts on over (for a 17 I'm sure similar mods would give even more performance but I'd have to lay out the cash all over again).
cycle7447, best answer! "didn't buy if for the depreciation - instead, I got it because of appreciation (appreciate the riding)".
The local salesman would not budge, so this morning I called the GM, who is also the owner, sent him the offer from the out of town dealer. He matched it on the 2016. So, I will be going with the black 2016 Ultra Limited.
