Default 2014 SG inner fairing removal

I have a painted inner fairing i want to install. I have searched the forums and see that some people say this is an hour job. The dealer wants 5 hours for this. Who has some tricks for me. I did read that once you remove the gauges and the pods and all the bolts you can slide the inner fairing out is that accurate? Any help you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way in my opinion is to just remove the entire fairing and work on it on a table. From there it's just a handful of screws and it's off. You don't have to take the pods off to remove the inner.

I was able to do the whole swap in less than an hour. Take off front fairing cover. Then remove screws around speaker boxes, phone compartment, and a couple other obvious screws behind can't remember which. Lift up fairing and tilt to the front and you will be able to pull the front fairing out. I actually have a thread on it last year. If you bought your painted inner fairing from Paul then call him and he will walk you through it.

5 hours should be someone that has never done done it and worried..
or the dealer padded enough to pay for scratching the first one.

So i installed the fairing yesterday. Overall not as bad as i thought it would be. The advice from dixonk was very helpful and if i had to do it again i would be much quicker. I took my time and it was worth the effort. I will say the media compartment screw that is on the bottom i did not see till i was trying to slide the fairing out. The rest were all very visible and easy to find. I will be finishing up when my gauges get back from getting the LED's changed out. Thanks again dixonk
