Question on heated Grips
My friend just purchased a 2017 Street glide special. He is having the dealer install heated grips his question is does anyone know if the streamline work any better than the standard heated grips. The catalog says they work 20% better than stock heated grips. Any opinions or information appreciated.

Everything I've read says just the opposite. The standard grips work better & last way longer.
I know the stockers on my Limited will melt your hands at half way up lol.

I self-installed the standard heated grips on mine a week after I bought the bike. It was January. Installation seemed really PITA from what I was reading about it, but once I just read the instructions and stared at the inner fairing for awhile, I figured it out. The standard grips are what came stock on the Limited, AFAIK. They are real heaters. The six notch heat dial also turns them on and off. I frequently hit the **** with the heal of my hand and turn the grips on during a 105f July day. Might be a good idea to pull a fuse in summer.
In winter, I ride in temps down into the 30s. The grips are very beefy. Three notches up is BBQ time. Makes me wonder why the dial has six positions. Do they really get hotter in position six? I've never tried it.

I had standards on my 13 SG. Put streamlines on my 16rgu. No difference. In heat production. I can't bare hand either one up past 3 or 4. As for longevity I can't tell you but the streamlines have been in my RGU for an entire year now. 18k miles rode all winter and no problems.
I did my own install, step dad was an aircraft electrician. I learned from him and am pretty fussy about connections and insulation.
