I honestly dont mind the $150 fee if its worth it and right now I'm not 100% its worth the money to do the update.

I normally use the navigation feature seriously several times a year. Mainly when I get out and just take roads to see where they go and end up lost.............Then I pull the navigation up and hit home and it takes me home.

So I'm on the fence about if this is worth it or not.

Sounds like for the way you use it, it really isn't worth upgrading at this time.
Even a 10 year old map will get you home the way your using it.

I don't want to pay $150 just yet either. I may not ever update it, who knows.
As long as mine keeps getting me to where I plan, I'll leave it alone.

There are plenty of automobile built in Nav units out there working just fine that have never had map updates run.

I'm thinking you have a very valid point...................I will more than likely just leave it as is for now. I dont figure the update will go away and it will be there if I ever decide I really need it at some future date.

Thanks for the reality check.

The system seems to work best that way. When I set mine to a final destination on the SCENIC setting with avoid highways and tolls I've gotten to see some pretty interesting parts of the country. If you aren't enjoying the road you've been routed to just turn off of it and the system will route you a different way.

Default This really sucks

Just purchased 17 SGS last week, it now has 80 miles. Checked the map software revision 2Q 14. Called HD customer service to see if they would update. "Sorry but we install what is available when the bike is built. We do not offer free upgrades".

My Bike was built Aug of 2016, which is the 3rd quarter of 16. The latest version is the sowtware is 2 quarter of 15. It seems to me that the software should have been available when my bike was built. Not much you guys can do about it, just venting.

I think the Davidson brothers and Bill Harley are rolling over in there graves. May call my dealer but don't hold out much hope.

It makes more sense to me to update every few years to notice any big difference for added data.

CVO bikes do get 3 updates in 5 years. Problem is they only come out with an update once every 2-3 years, so at best, you may get 2 updates. But more likely only 1.

mitchflhx - if you are willing to accept that kind of an answer, I think you are a lot easier than me.

I would call back and request a manager and then continue to ask for someone with authority until you get a "reasonable response". I am not sure when the 2017 software came out but as you mentioned, the 2015 software was definitely there.

Frankly, it is were me, I would "command" the latest software. Would you let them install 2014 tires simply because that is what they have in stock? Or, how about sell you a 2014 bike and label it as 2017.

If you want an accurate and up to date map, use your phone.

Like coming in the back side of a tattoo place ,up a huge incline the down a big drop on to a city street. But it was a fun route. The system works.
With the way they are doing road construction in some places I wonder if any GPS is 100%% anymore .
