I did the same on a 2012 street glide, CVO bags and CVO rear fender with all lights all H-D and had it all custom painted to match my Tequila sunrise and still way less than $5000 WOW

That means just what it sounds like, I put stretched H-D CVO bags and CVO rear fender set up with lights and had it all painted to match Tequila sunrise and was way less than $5000

The right side vent opening barely operates. It never operated 100%, but now, if I want to adjust it, then 3 out of 4 times I have to wait until I'm stopped and manually manipulate the vent door itself. The operator just doesn't work.

The glove boxes have never latched properly. They are difficult to get open, and difficult to get closed. Not a huge deal, as I don't use them much, but still a PITA.

Obviously, no moving parts on the bag lowers, so there's that. I hope your paint holds up far better than mine has.
If you have the latch issue get the Harley ones they just push in, my dealer had them in stock. 57100167 LATCH DOOR $5.10 . As far as paint chipping, I have about the same miles on them as you, not a mark on them.

Hi Barry! We hope you're doing well and still enjoying your 2014 Street Glide.

I don't think the paint on your Bad Dad parts is our paint. I know we spoke about parts for your project back in 2015, but I think you ordered all your Bad Dad parts through another shop in Florida. That particular shop uses our parts but he has his own painter in Florida, so it's likely your parts were painted there. That particular dealer always orders unpainted parts so I don't think it's our paint work.

The quality of our paint and the quality of our color match is very important to us. We use OEM Harley-Davidson materials for any items we paint in-house in order to guarantee a factory paint match. We paint for several Harley-Davidson dealers and we deliver a really world-class finish.

If I am mistaken and we did paint your parts, we'd be happy to correct this for you. We offer a lifetime warranty on the craftsmanship & material quality of anything we paint. Our shop has been in the automotive & motorcycle paint industry since 1979, and this is the same lifetime warranty we have offered for the past 39 years. We take a lot of pride in the quality of our paint and we genuinely stand behind everything we do.

Regarding the paint quality of some inexpensive parts and many overseas items, paint "chipping" is usually caused by delamination in which materials actually separate from each other. This type of paint chipping is usually caused by using materials that are incompatible with each other, using low quality material (particularly inexpensive clear coats), or poor surface prep.

Sorry for butting in here but I just wanted to be clear about the parts you have. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions or if I am mistaken about this. Thanks for using our parts on your Street Glide! We really appreciate your support.

John

Interesting. I wonder if that's what is happening with my Advan lowers.

John, for what it's worth, I wish "Here is Sam" would make me an offer like that, but no one has.

So is your paint chipping/flaking off or do you have rock chips, Rock chips is what I was speaking of.
I don't care how good your paint is rock chips will happen.

I think it's rock chips. I'll look again when it thaws out.

While any paint can and will chip with rocks, it just doesn't make sense that a) nothing else is chipped, including the front fender, the fairing, or the tank, and b) my previous factory lowers did not chip after 4X the miles. Methinks the paint was brittle.
