DIY -AC Breather System - Way, Way Easy, and Cheap!
OK, there are a bunch of threads on this kind of thing, but this was sooooooo easy, and super cheap.
Nod to DK Customs, as I had their breather kit and AC on my Dyna - got a good feel for things from that kit.
This is temporary. I'm going to get the DK Customs intake that hides under the stock cover - mine is a FLHP, so that "103 Police" HAS to stay. But I don't want to spend the $ on that right now, but my God how the TB was covered in a film of oil. Even after I cleaned it, like 100 miles later, when I did the DIY bypass, it was all oily again.
You need 4 things: 5/16 fuel line, small hose clamp, hi-temp RTV, and a breather. That's it. I had all of that in my garage.
Take the air filter off, RTV the hole the breather dumped into and set it aside to dry.
Take the stock T-fitting and turn it facing up. Put one end in the 5/16" hose, run the hose like in the pic. It's a snug fit, so nothing will move around.
Then drill a hole (I did a pilot hole and then a stepped bit, cleaned up with a round file). Run hose through. Sorry - dark pic
Turns out, my scrap hose was too short to put the breather down low where I wanted it, but no turning back now (remember, this is temp until next spring), so I trimmed it real short, and put the breather on. Since it was designed for 3/4" hose (it came with the DK kit from my Dyna, which used 3/4 hose), a bit of WD40 got it on snug. Probably don't even need the hose clamp, but of course, I put one on.
I kid of dig it there. So far, no oil spray on my pipes or engine. Running, the bike smells different. I'm certain it's the vented gases from the breather.
Bike runs great, but I am autotuning with the FP3, as it should have slightly changed the O2 content and temp of the air coming into the intake.
