I guess that is the idea, build it smoother, quieter, cooler, more power, trying to get the wing dingers , bimmers and other jap bike owners to convert. Nice marketing. You know, there are a lot of guys that haven't rode a shovel, or pan, and always looking for lest wind, less noise, more comfort. So now they have a bike they can buy with most of these amenities already on the bike.

You have a valid point. I had to replace my helmet a few months ago, and now the buffeting is driving me crazy. It's the helmet doing it, because my old one was super smooth. I'll admit, I'm tempted to test out a 2016 RGU with the price pressure the 103's have on them right now due to the M8. But I think it's probably a saner decision to just get a different helmet....

The point made abut helmets being noisy is a good one. My Nolan is noisy, bt two weeks ago when my BMW delear let me take out a R1200GSA for a couple of hours, I was very suprised to has no helmet noise at all. The combination of windshield and helmet makes a difference.

Good review. I also have spent the last 25 yrs riding Japanese tourers. Four Goldwings, last one being an overheating GL1800. Kaw Voyager, Yam Venture, plus a VTX1800 and a Road Star.
My 2016 FLHTCU is the equal or superior to all of them. I also currently own a Yam FJR and love it dearly, but am thinking about selling it to get a Fatboy or maybe a Dyna for solo riding as we are now 70 and don't fold up into sporty position like we used to. We are very happy with the Harley, and think you will be, too.
