CB is now option only?

CB is now option only?
I was looking over HD's web site & noticed the MY17 Ultra Limited has only 1 antenna. Looked at the CB Communications Kit in the "Shop for the Bike" section & sure enough, it shows a fitment for the -17 FLHTK.
I guess a lot of people don't use it, but I use mine in group rides. It looks like the whole set up would add an additional $600 or so (MSRP) to the cost.
So - the price increase is $600 (over the -16MY Limited) with a new engine & suspension pieces - but they pulled the CB which is another $600, so the bike really increased $1200 or about 5%. I wish my pay would have went up that much...
And, of course, it looks as though the cruise control is still located on the leftt grip, meaning the PTT switch will still be on the rightt...

CB is a nearly dead technology to be honest. The only people that still use them are truckers. Most riders I know now use some sort of bluetooth device for bike to bike communication even when their ride is equipped with CB. I don't understand them trying to phase out such a good free waveband for us but I suppose like everything else the gov wants to use those frequencies for something else.

There's still no good alternative for a group of 6 to 12 bikes riding long distance 2up when you want everyone to be connected. Plus bt has a very short range. They reference a mile but that's only when upto 8 bikes are daisy chained together. CB is still the best if not the only decent alternative for communicating on a bike. Plus there's no batteries to die out like the bt headset.

I don't use the CB while I am riding by myself. I do use it while riding with a group of other bikes that have CB's.
It is nice to converse back and forth on a ride.
It is also good for the leader to point out hazards on the road.
We have put a CB (J&M Model 2003) on my wife's bike and we talk back and forth while riding.
But again, a lot of single riders don't use it, so if Harley doesn't include it on the bike anymore, I hope the price of the bike reflects that.
