Default Lower Fairing Options

I am looking for opinions on purchasing a lower fairing for my 16 SG. Of course the HD one is most expensive. The ones from Hogworkz look good and are quite a bit less and then there are the cheap Chinese ones on Ebay. Anyone have experience with any of these?

I have hogworkz. I'm not that impressed with the quality. I am glad I have the older style lowers that the door slides open all the way. Seem better for letting air through to cool the engine. Seems the newer style with the tiny door are good for the water cooler bikes which of course my glide is not. For me, the more air flow the better.

I had a set of Mutazu (Chinese) lowers on my 08 SG and they held up just fine with 40,000 miles on them. The vivid black matched the frame so well that I didn't bother painting them to match the bike. I live in the country so have to deal with bugs, gravel, and roads that are chip sealed and the paint held up just fine.

The Chinese lowers are a little thinner than OEM lowers. The funny thing was some of the parts on mine actually had HD on them.

I like the look of the painted lowers and may end up putting speakers in them. I don't want to buy junk, but also don't want to overpay.

I had soft lowers. I like the hard way better. Soft are not suppose to stay on when it's warmer. That became a pain taking on and off.

I installed the lowers from Fairing Factory on my 2016 SGS and love them. A little over $200. Only a couple of complaints. They came disassembled with absolutely no instructions. In hunting through the interweb, I found what I needed. The magnetic door on one of them buzzes at certain RPMs. One of these days I will have to figure out how to convert them to a mechanical closure. On a good note, when I was installing them of of the doors broke off the hinge. Dropped an email to them and they sent me a new set of doors immediately.

I went with the ebay lowers and colorite paint for my mysterious red sunglo. If I had to do it again, I would have bought HD prepainted lowers (and might still later on). If you have to paint them it's not worth the small difference in total cost for inferior lowers.
