How short are you? I am 5'6" (age 66) 28" inseam - I had Corbin build me a seat that fits ME - meaning its nosed in the front and made a little lower WIHTOUT giving up comfort - I run full 13" shocks on the rear and the front is Standard height - I ride two up most all the time and FULLY loaded (45# luggage total) I have no problems with handling the bike..
Now to address your question - the drop kit is a GREAT kit - I have sat on one and the owners wife (Mitchells Harley, Modesto, CA) had one on her bike... you might call the dealer and ask to speak to Art or Linda - talk to them about it. Its NOT cheap and I would go for it but the set up I currently have works great for my short legs....
If your ever in Turlock, CA - come on over and go for a short ride...

I'm about the same size and 5 years younger. I ride 2 up most of the time and normally don't have a problem handling the bike. It's just those awkward off balance times when it would be nice to hit the ground with a solid foot. I could ride it fine as is, but I like the idea of the drop seat.
I don't like near Corbin, and honestly, one of the worse seats I ever had was a Corbin on a BMW. Bought it and complained. Was to to ride it and it would break in. After 17000 miles it was still like a buckboard.
I'm thinking drop seat and Legends air ride shocks. My concern with the drop seat is whether I will sit to low to comfortable see over the fairing.

The one I ONLY sat on, seemed great and I would get on in a moment if I felt I needed one... the way I have mine set up now will work great for me,, This is my 4th HD since 96 and my forth Corbin... Last Corbin - 82K with 4 coast to coast,,, longest was 8K in 26 days,, the best seat in the world... Key is to have one that fits YOU
