Question Front brake lever removal?

2015 Limited. Changing clutch and brake levers. Clutch lever was a piece of cake.

Front brake lever, remove pin, then not enough play to get lever away from pushrod. Instructions say refer to service manual. Pages 2-40 & 2-41 not much help. Can't be aggressive obviously.

You removed or loosened the brake lever assembly from the handlebar right? The manual is no help to you. Here's what it said "Remove pivot pin and brake lever from brake lever bracket". This was from 15 touring manual pg. 2-40. That's all that it said about removing it. I've removed it several times and don't remember it being difficult. Good luck.

Thanks! Shortly after posting this I found a post from Gunnysgt which worked perfect.

"The brake one is a bit harder, you have to loosen (NOT REMOVE) the switch housing, the lever is kinda hooked into the switch housing, Roll it out, put the new one in and tighten it up. Don't forget to put some lithium grease on the roller and lever base where it is under the housing."

You may have to loosen the two screws that hold the master cyinder to the handlebar to get more clearance.Make sure You don't break the brake switch.I usually use a wire tie to hold the lever back from the switch.

The pushrod/dust boot should have a light coat of lube on it correct where it seats in to the lever? When I had it apart I noticed it did, just making sure.

Default Brake Lever Removal 2017 Road Glide

Clutch is a no brainer. Remove spring clip, remove pin, install new clutch lever, reinstall pin and NEW spring clip. No matter how carefully I removed the spring clips I distorted them and therefore I would not recommend reuse.

Brake is a bit more difficult, but still pretty easy. I had to remove both the brakes side switch cover and the brake fluid reservoir/ mirror from the handle bar. Be careful! The reservoir / mirror is heavier than I thought and it came apart unexpectedly and dropped on my tank. Make sure you cover the tank or you could end up like me with a nice little ding. Other than that it went smoothly. Note: you'd be hard press to find the ding, but I know its there!

After removing the switch cover and and brake fluid reservoir/ mirror the lever came out easily. During installation I became apparent that I was going to have to keep the lever slightly depressed to get everything aligned. I wedged a business card under the front of the lever and the spring tension kept it in place. Once I did that it went together easily.

A small amount of grease on the pins and surface of where the levers pivot is all that's needed.

As to difficulty, I rank this one as easy. As to helpfulness of instructions in the Harley Touring service manual I'd give it a zero.
