Default Antenna Options - Added a Tour Pak

Added a tour pak to my Road Glide Special. In preparation I installed a J M hidden AM FM antenna as well as a CB antenna. The CB works well enough but the AM FM does not, I live to far out.

For ballance I want to go back I want to go back to two external antennas. The tour pak will be removed and only used on longer trips. I know there are extensions to put the whip antenna at the base of the fender but I dont like that look.

So what are my options here so that I have radio and CB antennas with and without the tour pak mounted?

You can add a light bar to the Tour Pak and move them there when it's on.

You can run thru AM/FM antenna along the frame. Did that with my SGS when I added the tour pack.

I did the same thing after reading lots of negative reviews on the hidden antenna. Just disconnect the antenna base bracket and you can route it along the frame and under the seat. It's totally hidden, and works great.

I am thinking about using this mount instead of adding a light bar to the tour pak. It's a kit for older bikers but I can buy just the mount and run my own custom wiring.

Thoughts?

Of course you'd need two and would they be compatible with the CB? Mast length is critical with the CB antenna ( SWR ) matching. If your hidden CB antenna is working why not try running the FM antenna along the frame as "Powertrip" has suggested in post #5. You've already got what you need and have nothing to lose other than a few minutes of beer drinkin' time, right? Good luck.

I would need two, but it is just the mount so the tuned antennas would screw onto the mounts.

The hidden antennas have already been removed and I built a bracket for the right side of the bike so that the CB antenna matches the am fm antenna. It balances out the bike and the stubby antennas work extremely well.

With the mounts pictured above I could just unscrew the antennas from the stock location, install the tour pack, make the connection under the seat and screw on the antennas.

I have the same problem. I have run mine hidden along the frame and my favorite station does not come in clear like it did previously!

I just checked some numbers on Boardtracker. For the FM antennae you can still get the single mount for the tour pack, the cable, and associated parts (had them on my screaming eagle road glide 2000). You do just unscrew the antennae from the bike, screw the cable from the tour pack where the antennae was and then screw your antennae on the tour pack. Most of the parts weren't too expensive.

1-2576----------------screw (1)
4-3248----------------allen screw for antennae (2)
5-7118----------------lock washer (1)
6-7129----------------lock washer (1)
10-76219-00---------adapter
11-76229-00---------cable (tour pack to antennae)
13-76252-86---------antennae base
14-76253-86---------reinforcement plate
15-76255-86---------gasket
16-76258-86---------plug assembly
17-76261-00---------nut
18-76306-98---------antennae mast (maybe can use stock antennae?)
19-76353-00---------nut (2)
20-76354-00---------antennae joint assembly
