According to the settlement that harley just signed with the DOJ, a tuner will void the powertrain warranty of model 2017 and later bikes. It does not affect model 2016 and earlier warranties.

Do I need a flash or tune for slip-ons?

How come nobody waves to me?

How can I get rid of all of the wind?

Is there a way to get rid of the heat?

Dino or Syn?

I have gone back and forth with this, and decided to keep the bike stock with only slip ons until my warranty is done.

Any of the local dealers I have gone to have given me hassle with warranty stuff on my stock bike. Not due to the slip ons, but just hassles getting things repaired. They act like its money coming out of their pockets. This kinda crap is my only complaint about my bike.

I'm not sure if they are trained to tell you that's normal, and we won't fix it, or if they are just lazy. Dealers around my parts have absolutely no customer service abilities.i have had to fight to get small **** fixed 5 or 6 times. And it doesn't matter where I take it, the selling dealer or the other 4 in close proximity..

Perhaps you should use that Google also.

Magnuson-Moss was intended to allow you to use aftermarket parts only if they meet the factory specs. Spark plugs, filters, or any other part that meets factory specs.

But if you tune your bike to be outside of factory specs they can and have refused to cover power train warranty claims.

Of course you are free to take them to court over it, but guess who will run out of money first.
And in the end, you will still lose if they prove you modified the tune.

Where do I put the gas cap while fueling my bike?

You're welcome.

Kudo's to you BigMike - You and post #2 have Nailed it..........
I do not really know you / Bigmike but "Greatsteaks, Post #2" is a Short rider and short guys always know the answer, lol

My true feelins are this - IF you have the work done at your local dealer AND That Manager Never retires AND you ONLY go to them for ANY repairs - you MIGHT be OK,,, Then again IF you play the Lotto AND pick the right numbers, You Might win...

Just bought a new RGU last month, and when they wanted to sell me the stage 1 upgrade (mufflers, pipes, AC, FP3 tuner) that was the first question I asked them. They told me in no uncertain terms that this upgrade would NOT void the warranty.

Dealer purchased, dealer installed. Anything goes wrong for the next two years and back to the dealer it goes ...

AS I stated just above your post,,,, YOUR dealer

This question has been Beat to Death here on the fourm - Unless you have that promise in writing by the owner of the dealer - Good luck down the road... IF you are out on a ride away from home and NEED service for a major issue - That Service Manager may or may not be so willing as your Salesman. Its a crap shoot out there.
Not trying to beat up your post, just saying what I have learned out there. Now if you ONLY have the factory warranty and NOT the extended - then all you need to be concerned about is 24 months...
