Default Oil Usage Mystery

So my bike is consuming oil almost as quickly as gas, and it seems to be a mystery as to where it is going. Here's what I know so far:

After only 400 - 800 km the oil is registering on the "add" line on a cold check.

Spark plugs are not showing signs of oil fouling.
No smoke bursts from the pipes under load, no oily residue on exhaust tips
Not leaking into primary, oil level is exactly where it should be.
No dripping, oil spots on the garage floor. Absolutely none.
Underside of bike is clean and spotless.
Air cleaner and housing is clean.

I'm not a mechanic, but I use a long time, highly respected indie Harley shop, and they are scratching their heads.

I'm going to start documenting the usage to get a more precise idea of exactly how much it's using, but it is significant.

Any ideas?

Logic would seem that if it's not leaking, and not transferring to another location, then it has to be burning.

Keep in mind a 2 stroke can have nice white plugs & a clean exhaust.

Good luck finding your problem, that's a real shame on a bike that new.

Check the primary for over filling. Just saw a 15 using oil and primary was way over with engine oil. Bad crank seal. Mike

Already checked, oil level is right where it should be. Hence the mystery. Everything appears to be normal, but going through oil.

If you're still under warranty, take it in!

First call I made was to the HD Dealer. I bought the bike used, it was imported from Cape Fear HD and "Canadianized". As foul luck and dire fate would have it, the warranty expired about 6 weeks before all this began. Dealer says nothing they can do, so I took it to the indie that does my service, and we're all scratching our heads. Seems to run just fine, always adding oil.

How old is the bike, what has been down to it. Did it do right away or something that cam on all the sudden. More details build a trail.
Forget the indy take it to HD.

Update - Mystery solved! So it turns out that the oil usage ended as soon as I switched from Amsoil V-Twin 20w50 back to hd 20w50. Within 100 miles, no longer using any oil. I was quite surprised, but nothing else has changed, and I figured it out accidently. I began topping up with regular HD 20w50 because I was adding so much Amsoil, and its almost 2x expensive. The first thing that happened was that once the mix got to about 50% dino oil, started seeing smoke out the pipes, so definitely was burning, but synthetic doesn't make much smoke, so couldn't tell visually. (not something I was aware of).
I had the oil changed, and since going back to dino oil haven't had a puff of smoke, or added a drop of oil.

I'm not knocking Amsoil, or suggesting this would happen to all the rushmore 103 engines, it's just what happened with mine. Maybe it will help someone down the road.

Wow that is very weird and strange one oil can be that different then other, good for you though it's that simple instead of bad valve seal or piston rings gone haywire.
