Default Thoughts on police models

Hey all, I'm in the process of buying my first bike and really like the road king. My budget is a bit limited so I've been looking at police models. Are these worth considering or risky due to their service?

I'm Currently working with a dealer on a 2014 FLHP that has 3k miles on it for 13K list price. Was used as a trainer, never saw street use. I figure it's a good way to get into the Rushmore motor for a price I can afford. Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

My first bike was a RK police that I got in 2007 with 11,000 miles on it. It now has 85,000 trouble free for the most part miles.

I bought an 06 Road King with 3,000 and an 07 with 600 miles both cop bikes.. I would do it again. I purchased a 16 RK and the Rushmore is nice for sure .. I would really look into that deal that you mentioned .

I figure it's a good way to start, just need to try and find time to go meet, it's 2 hours each way so have to plan it a bit.

Between the salesman at the dealership and I we sent 100+ emails back and forth. Instead of driving, call them and get the email address for the salesman. Get your haggling and questions done there to start.

I'm lookin for an older FHLP for a project bike. I'd like a white one; there's one local, 2012, I don't care what mileage, for $8900 but I'm trying to talk him down

Most PD's get the bikes serviced at the dealer and at the factory intervals. Many agencies only keep them 1, maybe 2 years and replace them, so low mileage scores are out there. The one you found seems pretty decent. I have looked at them in the past and ended up with a non-P bike because the P Electra Glides don't have the options and electronics like the civilian bikes do. But on the RK, there isn't as much to be deleted.

Never been a fan of the police bikes. The bags are just fugly. They might be different on the '14 and up. There are too many deals on used bikes to settle for a police bike. I'd rather buy one from an owner that cared for the bike because they owned it.
