I have a shorty iPhone cord plugged into the USB in the fairing storage mini-box.. I have a RAM mount on my bars and the cord plugs in while I'm using GPS on my phone. Issue is that while it doesn't drain much, if at all, (GPS, and Google Maps, is a battery hog) the USB barely even charges the phone much, if at all, past the % it's at when it plugs in. I do see that the phone is charging. I know the bikes electrical system has limits, but is there any way to beef the juice up at that USB?
I had a similar issue in my car. The phone would not discharge, but barely charged. I just thought that was how it was. One day, my kid plugs his phone in, with his own cord, and it charged right up no problem. I went out and got a new cord and it worked perfectly.
Hmmm interesting. Will have to try that. The cord I'm using is a little 6" cord for iPhone forget where I got it from; Best Buy I think. I always try to get the good cords for that reason; but I didn't think of trying that. Great ideas Thanks!
