Fairing storage USB

Yeah, negative. 1A ain't gonna cut it unless it's a flip phone. And, a modern smartphone running the screen and GPS? It's not gonna work out. That's why all the new phones charge at 2A.

Most phones will charge with a 1A power supply. Just can't keep up with the drain caused by the display being on at full brightness all the time. The displays are the power hogs, not the apps. The in fairing connector is designed to charge a phone stored in the fairing, which means the display should be off.
With the display turned off, power usage is way less than 14 Watts. Otherwise, phone specs of 2 days plus in standby would require battery packs 4 times the sizes used in today's phones.
I do see the point about using it as a continuous GPS display sucking more than 1A though.

I have a shorty iPhone cord plugged into the USB in the fairing storage mini-box.. I have a RAM mount on my bars and the cord plugs in while I'm using GPS on my phone. Issue is that while it doesn't drain much, if at all, (GPS, and Google Maps, is a battery hog) the USB barely even charges the phone much, if at all, past the % it's at when it plugs in. I do see that the phone is charging. I know the bikes electrical system has limits, but is there any way to beef the juice up at that USB?

For the sake of completeness: when you do get one of those 12V DC Adapters to plug in to the 12V outlet and gives you one or two USB ports, make sure that it says that at least one of them outputs >=2A. The really cheap ones are mostly only 1A!
Having said that: I am really surprised that MoCo would only give that internal USB plug 1A and not 2. Really, what's 1A good for these days! Oh well...
@Cobra1: I like that! Might do that too. Would you happen to have a part number or something like that for this particular doohickey? I can't really be very long, can it?
