Default Odd Boom! Bluetooth/USB Behaviour

I've noticed a very odd situation with Bluetooth pairing to my iPhone.

Initially everything was fine until I plugged my iPod Classic (the 160 GB one with the tiny PATA hard drive) into the USB port.

Now Bluetooth will not remain enabled on power up. I have to re-enable by checking the Bluetooth setting each time I turn on the radio in order to get Bluetooth to pair with my iPhone.

If I unplug the iPod from the USB port then Bluetooth remains enabled when on power on the radio. If I use a different device plugged into the USB port (either a mass storage device like a USB stick or another iPhone) Bluetooth is unaffected and remains enabled each time the radio is turned off.

MoCo says that this is normal and the old iPod is not supported. I can see in the manual that the older iPod is not recommended and I do get a warning screen on power up about certain types of devices being prone to damage due to vibration (which makes sense as this iPod does have a small hard drive in it) but nothing about "not supported" and the iPod works just fine. I guess I'm not going to get anywhere getting H-D to resolve this issue and I can certainly work around it (either by leaving the iPod unplugged until after Bluetooth finishes pairing or by going into Bluetooth settings and enabling Bluetooth each time I start the bike) but it is certainly odd and inconvenient behaviour. Why on earth would a device plugged into USB, a completely separate connection and device, impact the ability of Bluetooth to remain enabled?
