I switched to "all Red Line" last year. My experience can be summed up in a word:

"snick"

I've read numerous accounts by riders who's machines didn't handle RL Primary oil well. Mine does.

My exhaust and stereo made engine, trans and primary chain noise all go away!

This. I went back to Mobil 1 in the engine just purely out of availability, but I'll keep Redline in the primary and transmission. People have been running it for decades. If it ain't broke...

Because the red line didn't work foe me in the primary it kinda left a bad tast for the red line products and I had read that the additives can fall out of the oil and build up behind gears and cause issues. So this service I changed the trans back to formula+ with more gear clunk and overall louder trans. Has anyone had issues using the heavy shock proof over extended time and a lot of miles??
no trouble here, 117,000 trouble free miles on my 09, Redline Heavy Shockproof 90% of the miles.

I've used Severe Gear 75w/90, 75w/110 and 75w140 in my trans and I like the 75w/140 the best. Smoother shifting and more quiet. Same weight as the Red Line gear oil...I think.
Me too. Amsoil 20-50 in engine(10-40 in winter), Severe Gear 75-140 in trans and Formula+ in primary Best combo that I've found.

I can't understand why Harley and other people continue to say that the same oil is fine in 3 completely different applications.

While I don't use the same in all three holes(mainly due to cost) the application is pretty much the same, lubricate and cool. I just don't see the point of putting expensive engine oil an the primary when it ads no benefit, cheap Rotella T 15-40 by the gallon is about the same price as a quart of Amsoil and does the same if not better job of lubing a primitive chain and cooling clutch friction disks.

My setup exactly, I bought into the Redline hype once, didn't work for me. I went back to F+ in the primary and based on a dealer recommendation I tried BelRay in the trans, quieted things down and lessened the clunk. All good so far...

Its enlightening to learn that "hype" is the purview of Red Line alone. "Thanx for the insight" !

I've settled on Redline in the engine and tranny and Amsoil in the primary after trying various combinations of Syn3, Formula +, Amsoil and Redline.

I didn't like the clutch feel of the Redline in the primary so I drained it and went back to Amsoil. Much smoother.
