Default Two GPS's, different routes

Two of us are planning a trip to the New England states and Canada this summer. Both of us have the boombox/gps in our bikes. Has anyone made a list of settings that we need to make the same so gypsy follows the same path to our destination. I am thinking fastest route/shortest route kinds of things. What else might make my GPS wander a different path than his GPS?

Doesn't matter what mine is as long as both of yours are the same.

If you are using Ride planner, make sure both of you use the same map. Also, make sure you both have fastest, scenic settings matching. Avoidances, is the other setting that you will want to make sure both set the same.
