Default 2016 Clutch issue

I have a 2016 Ultra Limited with a little over 5000 mi on the clock. It doesn't happen often (bike sitting for a couple of days) but when I leave the bike sit for a couple of days the clutch will not disengage until the handle is touching the grip. This past Sunday after sitting most of the week I started the bike, pulled the clutch in, put it in gear and the bike almost jumped out from under me! Once I've ridden it for awhile it's normal. I mentioned it at my 5000 mi service but the service guy said they didn't find anything. Anybody else experience this?

What your describing is exactly what the last clutch recall was about.
Have you had that work performed?

If not, get it done.
Not even sure if that recall affected the '16 models.
But your description fits the issue listed in the recall.

If you have had it done, take it back and explain it exactly as you did here.
That second recall also extended the warranty on your clutch, so it will be covered.

For the record, I've never experienced any issues with my '15 Limited.

Thanks RollaMo! I've got to go by the dealer this afternoon and pick up my parts manual so I'll address it with Service again. I haven't received any recall notices on the bike.

The clutch recalls were prior to the 2016 model year. Easy enough to look on the HD website for any recalls that affect your bike

That is what I wasn't sure of.

In any case, the issue he describes fits the problem description of the recall exactly.
So, this is something the dealer really needs to take a serious look at.

Your description sounds as if clutch plates are sticking together after sitting awhile. What kind of primary fluid was use at the 1,000 mile check? You might try and replace primary fluid.

It does sound exactly like the problem that the '14's and '15's were recalled for. Even though the problem has been addressed and fixed on those model years and revised for the 16's, it could mean that you got a defective master cylinder. I doubt that it's your primary fluid.

After the bike sits for several days the clutch is not properly lubricated and it takes a little more effort to get the disks freed up.
