Pump your clutch 10 times or so before you start it and if that seems to help, it's most likely the clutch master cylinder.

Make sure the primary is not overfilled!!

Also, make sure the clutch is adjusted properly.

This past Sunday after sitting most of the week I started the bike, pulled the clutch in, put it in gear and the bike almost jumped out from under me! Once I've ridden it for awhile it's normal. I mentioned it at my 5000 mi service but the service guy said they didn't find anything. Anybody else experience this?

Amazing! The MOCO hasn't got this fixed yet?

Three model years and counting - unless something else would give the identical symptoms. I've never been able to think of any candidates, though.

For the record, I ignored the recall and just flushed about a quart of Valvoline DOT 3/4 through mine and the issue disappeared.

Had this problem on another manufacturer with hydraulic clutch. The hydraulic clutch system was sucking air at the fitting. After it sat for a while I had to pump it up to get enough pressure. I replaced the clutch line and never had another problem.

My old cable clutched bikes would do that, after sitting several days the oil runs out from between the clutch disc's, therefore they are basically dry, let the bike warm up for a couple of minutes and work the clutch a couple of times to get the oil back between the clutch disc's. I never take off without warming it up a little first to get the fluids circulating, that's hard on the engine/trans/primary/clutches.

There is no adjustment at the master cylinder. The only adjustment is at the clutch pack.

Could you post pics from the service manual showing where that adjustment is located and how it's set?

My '15 Manual doesn't show or say anything about it that I can find.

Thanks for all the good information. I've got an appointment to have the dealer look at it a week from Friday as I will be out of town most of this week and next so we'll see what they find. I'll try some of the suggested ways to check it over the next week or so and see if they lead me to any cause. I will let everyone know the final outcome.
