It is another one of those each to their own things. It all depends on your build and preferences. Personally I find the stock bars perfect for me the way they had them set, I didn't change a thing. When I get on the bike the grips are right where my hands naturally fall. I am close to 6' 1" btw.
10" Yafee Minkey Bars are the perfect height for me. This is my second road glide with them. However, I have a very low seat, so I am probably feeling more like 12" bars.
I'm 5"11. Average.
You must factor in your seat when comparing bar height and feel.
[QUOTE=rob_low0228;15141232]I went with the HD Chizeled bars. Perfect height for me, just below shoulder height. Stock bars were way too low and back. Good luck![/QUOTE
Those are nice but noticed they say not for use with heated grips....that would be the deal breaker for me.
Those of you who did this, you say it took 5 minutes? I took the instrument cover off, still have to take the bolts out of the side of the forks, right? Then it's just 4 bolts to loosen the clamp? Also, are they just knurled where the clamp goes down over them? Maybe a little longer than 5 minutes? LOL
Don't touch the forks!
All you need to do is:
Remove the collar below the ignition switch (pry up from the bottom middle CAREFULLY this is cheap plastic, rotate the ignition **** to afford space to pull the collar)
Remove the gauge cluster (one screw on each side of the cover)
Now you see the clamp. Loosen the four hex bolts holding it down and rotate the bars as needed
If you want to go even higher, remove the hex bolts on the clamp, remove the clamp, pull the bars, pull out the set pin
Put it all back together
Ensure that you have enough clearance when the bars are turned full lock each way before tightening the clamp all the way back down
The first I saw with the bars rolled up,, put his mirrors on opposite sides and upside down,, looked very clean that way. They do NOT hit the tank he said,,,
